Development In Wirksworth
The aim of this website is to keep people updated about Tarmac’s proposals in Wirksworth. Tarmac owns two sites that have been allocated for new homes, employment and ancillary uses in the Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Local Plan: Middle Peak Quarry and Land off Middleton Road.
The Middle Peak Quarry site covers an area of 56.68 hectares, including: a dormant quarry and areas of woodland to the west of Middleton Road and north of Brassington Lane; and the main area of Middle Peak Quarry and the former Dale Quarry to the south.
The site known as Land off Middleton Road covers just over 9.46 hectares. It is made up of both brownfield and greenfield land, located between Cromford Road and Middleton Road and extending north to meet the Ravenstor Road industrial site.
Whilst we are submitting separate planning applications for each site, we recognise that we need to work closely with residents and stakeholders to take a holistic view to bring the two schemes forward.
Tarmac, a CRH company, is the UK’s leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions business. Our innovative services and solutions help to deliver the infrastructure needed to grow the economy today and create a more sustainable built environment to support our future prosperity.
We have a long-standing commitment to delivering a net positive contribution to biodiversity, and to carefully managing ecological and archaeological heritage.
