Tarmac, the UK’s leading sustainable construction solutions company, has been showcasing its range of career opportunities, new product innovations and community engagement activity at the Royal Norfolk Show.
Visitors to Tarmac’s stand at the UK’s largest two-day county show were able to find out more about the company’s work and operations in Norfolk (which include delivering highways maintenance services for the County Council) as well as see demonstrations of a range products, including coloured asphalt.
There was also the opportunity to sit in the driver's cab of one of Tarmac’s HGVs and find out more on how vulnerable road users and cyclists can stay safe around construction vehicles.
Alistair McBeath, Tarmac’s service director for Norfolk, said: “Being an active part of the communities where we work is very important to us. Attending the Royal Norfolk Show provides a great opportunity to speak to local people, not only about our work and activities to support the County but also about the range of exciting career opportunities available within Tarmac.”
The Tarmac team also showcased the company’s ’Make Your Mark’ recruitment campaign which aims to inspire people to take up careers in the construction industry and contribute to projects which are critical to the UK’s future success.
The company is currently recruiting seven apprentices in Norfolk as part of a commitment to employing up to 120 new graduates and apprentices at sites across the UK every year.
Each apprenticeship lasts between one and four years, including a year of vocational training at a local college. As well as receiving expert on-site technical training in their chosen discipline, successful candidates benefit from competitive salaries and the opportunity for career progression as part of a global business.
