Tarmac, the UK’s leading sustainable construction solutions business, will be talking to students and careers advisors about its apprenticeship opportunities at the Skills Show 2017 on 16-18 November in the NEC, Birmingham.
The company has a range of placements on its 2018 national apprenticeship and higher apprenticeship programmes, including mechanical and electrical engineering, technical and operational programmes . Former and current apprentices will be at the stand to share an insight into the varied roles available at Tarmac with young people, careers advisors and college and sixth-form tutors.
Lewis Evans, an operations higher apprentice at Tarmac, said: “I’m really excited to have the opportunity to talk to people about my experience and show the great opportunities for different apprenticeship options. I’ve been given so many opportunities since I joined Tarmac and it will be great to pass on that positive experience and talk about apprentices in the wider construction industry.”
Joanne Reah, national resourcing manager at Tarmac, added: “This will be our third year at the Skills Show and it’s always fantastic to be able to reach such a broad audience. It’s great to work alongside our current apprentices to show visitors what Tarmac can offer in terms of skill development, tailored training and career progression. Events like this are essential to help us showcase the breadth of apprenticeship opportunities we have, and to help young people begin their careers with us.”
The Skills Show is the nation’s largest skills, apprenticeships and careers event, which is targeted at a varied audience including educators, employers and young people looking at future career pathways. Tarmac will be joined at the show by new partners, Collab Group, who are helping the business develop an apprenticeship skills programme that will be used to set a benchmark for the wider construction industry. Collab Group works with employers, government and education partners in a number of key sectors, using their extensive network of colleges across the UK, to support young people into apprenticeship schemes.
Tarmac will be exhibiting in Hall 6 stand H3. Follow @TarmacLtd for more information.
