Tarmac recently spent three days with companies from around the world at Hillhead for the bi-annual exhibition that showcases quarry machinery, equipment and services.
Held at a non-operational Tarmac quarry near Buxton, Hillhead is the biggest exhibition of its kind in the world, attracting over 17,000 visitors and 450 exhibitors from across the globe. Tarmac hosted a stand at the show, and took the opportunity to demonstrate its comprehensive approach to dust management.
Tarmac highlighted the importance of effective dust control through ensuring the correct safety measures and equipment is in place, particularly in relation to protecting employees from exposure to short term effects of dust inhalation, and reducing and eliminating dust-related health issues.
Simon Grey, Tarmac’s director of health and safety, said: “We’re really proud to use Hillhead as an opportunity to show companies from around the world what best-practice dust management looks like, as part of our strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our people. Creating a safe environment for anyone involved with our operations is fundamental to how we manage our business, so this is a brilliant opportunity to spread that message and showcase just a few of the initiatives we have in place.”
The business was joined by 3M, a science-based technology company who supply safety equipment to Tarmac, including dust masks and protective glasses. 3M also bought a variety of safety equipment for visitors to test and learn about.
