Our volunteer group was set up in July 2014 to help us look after Panshanger Park and its nature reserve. Practical tasks are run monthly by our People & Wildlife Officer and include tasks such as scrub removal, reedbed management and path clearance. These tasks are a great way to help local wildlife, get fit, have fun and meet like minded people.
If you would like to find out more about volunteering at Panshanger and joining our volunteer group, Please contact Murray Brown our People & Wildlife Officer.
Bees play a vital role in the ecology of Panshanger Park and beyond, pollinating plants. We are working with the Welwyn Beekeepers Association (WBKA) to set up an apiary at Panshanger Park in spring 2018.
This will provide an opportunity for people to manage their own hive in the park.
If you are interested but do not have any experience, why not sign up for a beginner’s beekeeping course with WBKA during March 2018? This will give you all the knowledge you need to start beekeeping with your own hive. The course costs £70 for six sessions and includes a beekeeping for beginner’s book.
