Half term fun at Panshanger Park

This February half term saw three fantastic family-friendly events held in Panshanger Park, run by Tarmac and Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust.

On Valentine’s Day, Little Lovebugs at the park’s Forest School encouraged children to look for bugs and birds, make a bug house and create a little wooden "love bug" or "love bird" to take home.

On the 16th, an event celebrating National Nest Box Week, Brilliant Birds, invited children to look for birds and make bird feeders, nesting material balls and a bird box.

Both events closed with a fun campfire and tasty snacks.

Friday 17th February saw around 150 people join an exciting scavenger hunt. Families were invited to take a scavenger hunt bag and head off into the park to collect or take photos of the range of items listed on the hunt sheet. To help with the task, children were shown how make their own pair of binoculars, which proved very popular and worked very well according to many participants!

Once the hunt was completed, families had the opportunity to make pinecone bird feeders and clay animals – also very popular (and messy!) activities.
