Tarmac to host talks at the Hertfordshire County Show celebrating the beauty of the county

Visitors to the Hertfordshire County Show this weekend can look forward to a series of talks hosted by Tarmac.

The series kicks off on Saturday 26th May with Kate Harwood from Hertfordshire Gardens Trust giving a talk about Humphry Repton, as part of a programme of events to commemorate 200 years since his death. The celebrated English landscape gardener designed 17 sites in Hertfordshire including Panshanger Park – a site owned and managed by Tarmac.

On Sunday morning local historian David Neal will take us through the rise and fall of Panshanger Mansion. He’ll be looking at the history of the park from when the 5th Earl Cowper adapted the house after moving the family seat to Panshanger in 1800, to when it was demolished in 1954 following the death of Lady Desborough - the last member of the family to live there.

The series of talks wraps up that afternoon with Olympic triathlon coach Andy Hobdell sharing training tips and stories about parkrun. As Hertfordshire’s Year of Physical Activity continues - where everyone in the county is being encouraged to get active, it will be an opportunity for anyone who is interested in taking part, no matter what their ability, to find out more from the Panshanger parkrun pacesetter himself.

All the talks will take place in the Tarmac Talks Tent, next to the show jumping ring at the Hertfordshire County Show.

The half hour talks are free but registration via Eventbrite is recommended to avoid disappointment. Head to Eventbrite and search for Hertfordshire County Show or follow these links:
