Finding our past: Buried Treasure [image]

Archaeology helps us to understand about our history.

One way that we can learn about the past is from the objects that are buried beneath our feet. These range from small, apparently worthless objects, to wonderful treasures made of gold and silver. Once discovered, each of these items helps us to reveal stories about life in the past.

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Tarmac is sponsoring the first major national exhibition of British archaeology in over 20 years.

The British Museum’s exciting exhibition Buried Treasure: Finding Our Past will show how archaeological discoveries have changed our understanding of history. The exhibition will also celebrate the enormous contribution that the public has made in uncovering history, highlighting some of the heroes and villains of treasure hunting.

The two-year exhibition will start at the British Museum in London and will then travel to museums Cardiff, Manchester, Newcastle and Norwich. Click here to find out about dates at the museum nearest to you.
