In the UK the highway asset is valued at over £800bn, making it the most valuable government asset comprising pavements, footways, structures, communications, lighting and ancillary assets.
It enables day-to-day journeys, the movement of goods and supports local and national economic development. In June 2013 the Government committed an unprecedented £11.4 billion to maintain the local and national highway networks over the course of the next parliament. As one of 5 main contractors appointed to each of 2 Highways England Asset Support Frameworks in 2012, we have delivered 24 schemes valued at £67m across the motorway and trunk road network. The scope of the schemes has varied from major resurfacing works to complex improvement schemes requiring the appointment and management of extensive supply chains. Originally awarded for a period of 3 years, the contracts have been extended for a further year until 2016.

We are working as a key supplier to main contractor Costain to carry out the £11m carriageway pavement work on this £130m project. Following a comprehensive Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) period where we worked with Costain and the Client (Lancashire County Council) to refine the pavement design, we commenced work on site in April 2014. Our work involves the manufacture, supply and installation of 130,000 tonnes of asphalt and 40,000 tonnes of Cement Bound Granular Material.
