With OFWAT regulation demanding significant change in the way in which our water is managed we are working on a range of support solutions that will enable companies to better deliver water management and flood prevention, capital scheme investment and network distribution and repair.

Since privatisation the UK water industry has invested more than £90bn to replace and upgrade its network infrastructure. With this investment set to continue for at least ten years just to meet the challenges of climate change, decarbonisation and population growth we are focused on offering supply, logistics and resource solutions that will support suppliers in the delivery of a different approach to water management.

Water management Research and innovation are foundations of our business and today we are actively committed to collaborative working with a number of strategic partners to further develop sustainable construction solutions to the problems of flooding. Recent successes have been the installation of concrete and asphalt SUDs pavements and the TBlock, concrete modular construction system which was developed to simplify the design and build a range of structures for effective coastal defence and flood prevention.

Capital Investment The UK water market requires significant further investment to improve and protect the environment, further improve drinking water quality, reduce leakage and replace ageing pipes. Our business R&D team is actively working on innovative ways to help reduce carbon in construction through product development and off site fabrication to assist in accelerating build programmes and investigating new and alternative approaches.

Network distribution We understand the balance between supply and demand and the challenges posed by a vast and ageing network. We have logistics and future proof asset capability that is the largest in the UK and are increasing efforts to offer solutions that support the standardisation of asset build & operating processes and the efficient delivery of industry build programmes.

Toyota - Effluent management

Technical expertise was applied to the update requirement of Toyota’s Derbyshire plant to ensure effluent streams were neutralised prior to site release into the watercourse. Kalic Lime enabled Toyota to maintain the high standard of effluent management but lower costs and drive a reduction in the volumes of delivered chemicals.
