As the RIBA Awards 2016 begin to be announced from 14 April, Tarmac, the UK’s leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions company, has confirmed that it is continuing its sponsorship of the RIBA Project Architect of the Year award in 2016.
RIBA’s regional awards are held across the UK throughout April and May, and bring together practices of varying sizes and specialisms to celebrate the best architecture projects. The Project of the Year recognises the demonstrable contribution made by architects to outstanding projects. Tarmac’s involvement is part of its continuing support of architectural and design excellence.
Ignacio Escobar, national engineering manager at Tarmac commented: “We’re really happy to be supporting RIBA with the Project Architect of the Year award. Our work to engage with architects and designers early on to advise on the use of specialist material is key to driving more efficient and sustainable design, as well as creating beautiful pieces of architecture.”
Marcelo Ventura, Corporate Development Manager added: "We are really pleased to have Tarmac sponsoring the RIBA awards and supporting architectural excellence. To have a company like Tarmac involved in the awards, who have such a significant presence in the construction industry, provides a great opportunity to encourage discussion around collaboration throughout the supply chain and work more effectively where our industry joins together.”
The first awards were presented last night, Thursday 14th April, at St John’s College, Cambridge. The winner of the RIBA Project Architect of the Year for the East Midlands was announced as Bell Phillips Architects.
