Congratulations to Richard Denman Jnr, an operative in Tarmac’s Contracting business, who has become the first Tarmac employee to achieve the Minerals Products Qualification Council (MPQC) Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction Operations and Civil Engineering Services (Roadbuilding and Construction) having been trained by a Tarmac in house assessor.
Richard was supported in achieving the qualification by Tarmac’s own in house assessor, Chris Hill, demonstrating the company’s commitment to the continuous professional development of their employees. Chris and Richard have helped pave the way for others who are set to complete the qualification and are a great example of Tarmac supporting employee career progression. Tarmac has six other operatives registered and currently studying to follow in Richard’s footsteps.
The qualification will allow Richard to apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card. The CSCS is the leading skills certification scheme within the UK construction industry and Richard’s new card will reflect his hard work by outlining his new roles and responsibilities.
Tarmac worked with MPQC to deliver deliver NVQ’s in house to ensure that assessments were independent and consistent, and aligned with the company’s standards of working. The qualification will demonstrate and assure customers and clients that Tarmac’s employees with this diploma are competent to operate mobile plants and understand the importance of safe working practices.
