Tarmac is continuing its sponsorship of the Active Rutland Community Sports Awards, which recognise local clubs, teams and sports people, as well as coaches and volunteers, for their achievements and contribution to community sport in the County.
Nominations have been received across 16 categories from Volunteer of the Year to Club of the Year and the winners announced in a ceremony at Greetham Valley on Wednesday 14 November.
Peter Hyde, highways services director, said: “We’re really proud supporters of the Rutland Community Sports Awards and it’s great to be involved again in 2018 helping individuals, clubs and organisations from across the County celebrate their fantastic achievements.”
Councillor Lucy Stephenson, portfolio holder for culture and leisure at Rutland County Council, said: “Sports clubs and teams are a huge part of the community, especially here in Rutland. When you look at all the sport on offer, it’s easy to see why Rutland has previously been ranked number one for participation in sport in the whole of England. With so much to celebrate, we hope lots of people who play or enjoy local sport will nominate someone they know.”
Rutland County Council and Leicestershire & Rutland Sport are also supporting the 2018 awards. Find out more at www.activerutland.org.uk/communitysportsawards.
