Settle Swimming Pool, in North Yorkshire, has been renovated thanks to a donation of £50,000 from the Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund.

The community swimming pool – originally built in 1970s – was in need of major repairs, requiring additional funding. With the Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund contribution, the pool has now been successfully renovated, with changing rooms also modernised, a reception area extended and a new café and multi-use wellbeing centre added, called fitSpace.

An innovative hydrogen fuel supplement system has been named as the winner of Tarmac’s 2022 Supplier Innovation Challenge, an initiative that encourages suppliers, organisations and individuals to submit ideas which can support the acceleration of the company’s journey to net zero.   

Local residents are being encouraged to get digging at a series of tree planting days, as part of Panshanger Park’s contribution to the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.

Designed to create a living legacy in Her Majesty’s name, a new public woodland is set to be created at the Hertford-based park through the project and will include a total of 17,000 trees.
