Fossilised plants which date back millions of years have been preserved after Tarmac moved them from a public footpath to avoid them being destroyed under foot.

The Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund has donated £8,000 to improve access for wheelchair users and people with pushchairs at the National Stone Centre in the Derbyshire Dales.

Residents of Kingsley, Cheshire, recently celebrated the reopening of their community centre after a grant from the Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund allowed them to redevelop the space.
