Tarmac helps deliver transformed village playground through £45,000 community grant

May 8, 2026

Tarmac has supported the transformation of a local village playground, helping to create a safe, modern and engaging space for children and families in the heart of the community.

The project was driven by the need to replace ageing play equipment that had become worn, broken and unsafe for use. In December 2025, Tarmac awarded a grant to the parish, enabling the full redevelopment of the site.

Delivered over a 12-month period from project initiation through to installation, the new playground now offers a vibrant mix of inclusive and active play opportunities. The updated space includes climbing structures, an obstacle course, musical play features, monkey bars and a rope swing, designed to encourage physical activity, creativity and social interaction.

The impact on the parish has been widely welcomed by residents and local representatives, who have highlighted the importance of the new facility to the community.

One local councillor said: “As such a small village, we would never have been able to achieve such a park without extremely generous donations, many thanks from us and all residents to Tarmac and thanks to Emma and Andy for joining us at our opening event.”

Residents have also shared their appreciation: “The playground’s really been transformed. It’s great to see Tarmac putting something back into the community, everyone’s really appreciative.”

“The park looks fantastic. My two children love the new climbing equipment and it’s wonderful to have a safe, modern space right in the heart of the village. We’re all very grateful to Tarmac for making this happen.”

Young users have also been quick to celebrate the new space, with Ellis commenting: “WOW what a cool park, I have never seen a musical area in a park, and I love the obstacle course, my favourite is the monkey bars and the rope swing!”

The official opening event took place in May, with Tarmac representatives Emma and Andy attending alongside local residents and parish representatives to mark the completion of the project and celebrate the positive impact on the community.

This project demonstrates the value of collaborative working between local communities and partners in delivering long-lasting improvements to shared spaces.
